Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
PBIS is a fundamental support program with a purpose of encouraging positive behavior in schools to promote success in the classroom environment. PBIS is a collective system implemented by instructional staff, non-instructional staff, and administration, that encourages a culture of positive behavior. The premise of the program’s effectiveness is heavily influenced by clearly stated expectations of what positive behavior looks like within the school day. This encompasses both school-wide and individualized classroom expectations.
Traditional (Elementary)
At Atlantis Academy Miami, our teachers maximize each student’s potential and abilities so they can achieve their individual goals and master grade-level learning standards. Students learn in many ways, and our elementary is dedicated to discovering students’ strengths and identifying each student’s unique learning styles and methods. Students are provided a personalized research-based curriculum, multimedia online learning and positive behavior reinforcement to promote academic and social success. Organizational skills, thinking skills and study skills are emphasized in each class.
Traditional (Secondary)
Meeting the individual needs of all our students is the top priority at Atlantis Academy Miami. Our Secondary Program, serving grades 6-12, focuses on a comprehensive, research-based curriculum and the integration of multimedia and differentiated learning to allow students to master the skills they need to become independent and lifelong learners. All students are exposed to secondary level exploration in each of the required content areas. Students are expected to meet all the state academic requirements in order to obtain a high school diploma. Our goal is to personalize services to promote the successful integration of students in a setting that nurtures academic, social and behavioral success.
Spectrum
The Spectrum Program helps students prepare for traditional high school academics and/or transition into the workforce. Students are assigned to the program according to their individual learning needs, including academic, developmental and social functioning. The Spectrum Program emphasizes functional communication, building independence and developing pro-social behaviors. Teachers incorporate individualized lessons, differentiated instruction, group collaboration, hands-on activities and real-life learning experiences to enhance the students’ experience and ensure progress.
